The Info Pusher and I went to Costa Rica in March, and I caught a lot of stuff on my camera’s audio recorder. The ones below are from a coffee shop in Samara – a beach community on the Pacific side of the country. There was no live music scene in the town, aside from a hotel bar with an off-puttingly overbearing performer . The woman who owned the bakery was trying to rectify this, bringing in folks from the town to play on her patio every Wednesday evening.
There were a couple of older dudes playing guitars in a roughly tuned way, and as the evening went on people who were coming in and out of the store next door would join in, singing or clapping or playing something. It was good. The bits where a really loud dude sings with a keyboard and drum machine are when the performer from the hotel showed up.
